Q&A: Anyone else work in a factory?

Question by ArkyGirl: Anyone else work in a factory?
I have worked in a factory for 16 years (since I was 19). I run an injection molding machine that makes plastic parts. At the factory I work at we make knives- Ginsu knives, Pampered Chef knives, American Angler electric fillet knives. We also make vacuum cleaner parts for Kirby and Oreck. Just wondering if anyone else works in a factory.

It sure feels like a sweat shop sometimes, does that count?

I work in an injection molding plant also! But I am a maintenance technician so it is alot different than production. I really like my job I always do something different everyday. Our company makes all kinds of plastic medical components. I have worked there for five years now.

I used to be an engineer in a factory. We made high voltage parts for the space industry (widgets). The assemblers had interesting jobs. My job was so boring I quit in less than a year.

We had several LIMs, an antiquated machine shop, a “rubber room” and some other interesting equipment. What fascinated me most was that everything was done by hand! I came from the utility industry where everything was automated.
