If you can get anything from a plastic surgeon for less than a hundred bucks I’d be surprised.

It may not work if it is not a new scar.

I have had a large keloid on my chest for years. I have been to dermatologists and plastics surgeons over the years. I saw a dermatologist about 10 years ago who gave me steroid injections that had no effect and were unbearably painful. I recently started seeing a plastic surgeon who has started my injections again and after just two visits I am VERY pleased with my results so far. The keloid has lightened up and flattened considerably. It is blending in very well with my natural skin color.

If I were you, I would definitely see a plastic surgeon. From my experience, they seem to be a bit more knowledgeable about what treatments will be best for you. If you have insurance, you should only have to pay your co-pay each time you visit. Depending on the size of your keloid, you will probably have do 3-5 visits. It is well worth the money!

Also, make sure that your doctor gives you a local anesthesia before the steroid injections. They are very painful without it!

    Good Luck!
